Jail Fail
I was sitting on the hot cement holding back my tears. Blood was dripping down my ankle like a river. Stars danced in front of my face. I couldn’t exactly remember what happened, but I knew that something had happened to me.
“Ava! You comin’ yet?” I heard Olivia screech from outside. I grabbed a lay’s sour cream and onion chip and strolled outside. Today was Memorial Day. Which means well, party at my house. Most of my family came over and some friends came over. Including two of mine. Olivia and Maddie.
“Ya, i’m comin’!” I finally answered. I sprinted out the back door. I had just changed out of my bathing suit and into dry clothes. Each time I took a step I could feel the cold water from my hair drip down my back like a long waterfall. I guess they aren’t dry clothes after all.
“We’re still gonna play cops now, right?” Maddie asked in a little confusion.
“Yeah. Also can I be “The Bad Guy” first?” I asked with quotations. Olivia and Maddie looked at each other for a split second and nodded yes.
I ran to grab my scooter. I lean over and grab the black, foam handle bar. I started to speed past my mom’s jeep, and down the short driveway. I felt the wind hit my neck as I scooter pretty fast. I take a quick glance next to me to see Olivia right beside me, but the next thing I know is that Olivia is arresting me for speeding.
“Put your hands behind your back and stay put!” Olivia yelled at me.
“Come on man,” I yell back to her.
She answers, “Well maybe next time you shouldn’t go past the speed limit!” At that very moment I realize what should be the jail stall.
“Wait! Pause the game for a minute. I think the jail stall should be my big tent!” I remarked. Olivia and Maddie thought for a quick second until Maddie started walking over to the tent.
“Great idea! Now back to the game,” Maddie answered as starting to sprint to the tent. As Maddie starts to get pretty close to the tent, Olivia walks me up to “the jail stall”.
“Open up the stall!” Olivia yells to Maddie even though they are standing right next to each other.
“Yes sir!” Maddie replies even though we’re all girls. Maddie flips the curtain type thing wa’ll Olivia throws me in.
When Maddie closes the curtain type thing she says,”Hey, time for training.” Olivia nods her head and they both run to the front yard. I look through the curtain, and at the sun. I smile at it almost as if it’s smiling back.
About thirty seconds later I was bored. So of course, I escaped. I ran to the front, and hid behind a bush. I sort of figured out myself what they were doing. They each had one lacrosse stick. Both of them were hitting at a squishy frog I got from the school store. When Maddie got the frog she ran like the wind, wa’ll Olivia was trying to hit the frog out of her stick. Sooner or later I really wanted to play, so I ran out of the bush toward the lacrosse sticks. I grabbed a lacrosse stick and joined in on their fun.
“Hey! You’re not supposed to be here,” Maddie yelled at me.
I answered, “Can I pretty please play? It is so boring in that little jail stall! Plus I already know how to play,” Maddie thought for a long, hard amount of time.
“Fine! But only for five minutes,” she finally answered. My heart started to dance. I ran over to where they were both hitting the sticky frog. It looked like Maddie had already told Olivia I could play.
After three minutes or so went by, I had a plan on how to escape jail. All I had to do was get the frog. So of course, I hit the frog and hit it until I finally got it. I ran to the part of the yard closest to my scooter. As soon as I got there I threw the frog all the way to the other side of the yard. My plan was starting. I dropped my lacrosse stick and ran for my scooter.
But before I even got there I could already hear Olivia yelling,”Get her!” It must have been the funniest voice ever because we all started cracking up. Until I started to run again. I ran as fast as I possibly could up the driveway. I grabbed my scooter off of the patio and scootered. Olivia and Maddie were catching up to me. I turn my head to get a quick glance at them but next thing I know, I’m lying on the ground in pain. Lots of pain.
This is when it happened. I was sitting on the hot cement holding back my tears. Blood was dripping down my ankle like a river. Stars danced in front of my face. I knew something had happened to me. I try to sit up and make out two people walking toward me They both looked like blurry blobs. I just kept blinking, and blinking and blinking until I could see clear again. My mom was cleaning up my bloody ankle. I grabbed an ace bandage I saw right next to me, and wrapped it around my ankle.
“Are you ready to get up?” I heard Olivia ask me. I nod my head yes. Olivia and Maddie grab my arms to help me get up.
“Maybe you should wear shoes next time,” I heard my mom yell to me.
“Good idea!” I yell back sarcastically. I was in a little pain but I could definitely play a game. But before we did anything I grabbed some flip flops and threw them on.
“How about this time we play traffic cop. Ava can be the traffic cop and sit on a stool on the patio,” Olivia suggested.
“Yes! Also maybe Chase and Andy can play to!” I answer. Maddie nods her head and grabs a scooter.
We played traffic cop for a pretty long time because about two hours later my dad said we could make some s’mores.
You guys have to go get the logs yourself though,” he told us. I nodded my head until he saw me. Olivia, me, and Maddie walked behind the fence and into the woods. We each tried to find the perfect sticks and logs. Sooner or later we were already making the bonfire and eating some s’mores. My brother burped out of nowhere. Me,Olivia, and Maddie started to chuckle until it turned into lots of big laughs. We all looked at each other and Maddie had s’more goo all over her hands. We all laughed and laughed until outerspace.
