Colonial Tavern
Introduction
The Colonial tavern was a gathering place. Also, it was a place where people ate and drank. It was a restaurant-like place. In addition, it was like a hotel. Travellers went there to rent bedrooms. Almost every house had a garden. Also, they had some materials that we have now like a strainer or a frying pan. An interesting fact is that a tavern was a place of business people gather to drink alcoholic beverages.


What Was the Gathering Place?
People went to the tavern’s to, talk,eat,drink,rent bedrooms,relax,to play games, and dance. Also a tavern was a place of people who gather and drink alcoholic beverages. Mostly travelers would rent bedrooms because they were passing through and they needed a place to sleep. They would play games like cards, they also gambled.



What Food/Drinks Did They Have?
Colonials Americans ate a variety of foods depending on where they live. Many homes had gardens where they grew vegetables and herbs. They also started growing beans, pumpkins, squash, and wheat. They ate cattle, peanut soup, clams, cod, sea bass, and shepherd’s pie.
They drank beer and wine from babies to ministers. They couldn’t drink water because they thought it would kill them. Kids could also drink wine or beer because there was no law on kids drinking. The materials they used to cook was toasting fork, trivet, saucepan, spider (frying pan), bake kettle, strainer, and gridiron (broiler).


Conclusion
In conclusion, taverns of Colonial times were a lot different than taverns and gathering places today. Taverns are a gathering place where people ate and drank.
