How was Pocahontas was helpful?
You might have thought Pocahontas was going to let her father kill John S. but she usually argued with her father for peace. Pocahontas thought John was harmless. Now I know Pocahontas was definitely a peace maker.
What were the Challenges Pocahontas faced?
By 1609 Pocahontas had thought John Smith died, she was very depressed. Some people had thought John died while others had not. I wonder what it felt like for her.
After a short time in the spring of 1613 Pocahontas was captured. At the age of 20 her name, her religion, and her life changed. Her new name was Rebecca. This must have been so hard for her. She must have missed her father very much. I wonder if Powhatan was depressed.
That summer she was baptized and learned about christianity.
Meanwhile in 1614 she married John Rolfe, a tobacco farmer. She got married in the spring. You might think that Pocahontas was going to marry John Smith but she actually married John Rolfe.
Meanwhile in 1615 she gave birth to a boy named Thomas. She must have been so happy. Probably after awhile she thought about her dad and if she would ever see him again.
Soon after in 1616 John Rolfe, Pocahontas, and Thomas sailed to London to introduce tobacco. Maybe she got to meet the king.
Therefor in 1617 Pocahontas got ill from Smallpox and died in England on the way back to America. If you're wondering Pocahontas died at age 21. They buried her body in Gravesend in England.
