The Last Second Switch
“It's the big day, our small Aspetuck team is in the championships!” shouted Joe. We’ve been practicing for this moment our whole lives.
The whistle blows and the game begins.We rush to the field like a stampede. Joe was charging down the field like a demon. His dark brown hair was glowing once he jogged on to the field. Joe was made to play football with his athletic skills.
“Hike,” Andrew says. “We wide receivers charge deep,” Joe shouted.
It looks like it is going to be a Hail Mary on the first play. A Hail Mary is a type of play when all the wide receivers run far.
BAM!!! Andrew got sacked.
Andrew goes down because he's injured. He’s holding his knee tight.The paramedics rush to the field. They check if Andrew is still alive.
They shout, “He’s alive but he might have a fractured knee.” He gets on a cart to get off the field and the crowd claps.
Once the game resumed coach asked Joe if I could be QBI mumbled and said yes. Once Joe got on the field he said hike! He got a 20 yard gain on the first drive until the fourth quarter.
Now it’s the fourth quarter and our team is trailing by 7. It’s 24 to 17.
Joe shouted, “Hike.” And threw it deep to Harry. It's up, it's up, it's good! Harry catches it in the end zone!!! The crowd goes crazy. Harry does the dab and walks out of the end zone with his teammates.
“Now all we have to do is kick a field goal and make it so we go to overtime,” shouted Joe. The kicker is George. He hasn’t missed one this whole season. George gets out on the field, kicks the ball and it’s up, it’s up, it’s good!
“Now we're going to overtime folks,” Bob, the announcer, said on the loudspeaker.
We got the ball and Joe was deep ready to return. The ball went deep in the end zone and Joe caught it! He’s running like a beast. “Now he’s past the 50,” Bob shouted. He’s jumping over guys juking them. Juking means that he fakes going one way but he goes the other. He’s at the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… touchdown!! The crowd went crazy.
“I can't believe I won the game for us,” Joe said out loud.
The whole team dog piled on Joe because Joe ran that monster run back for the win. Joe couldn't even breathe that's how heavy all of them are. Once they jumped off of Joe gulped for air. Then they secretly dumped a 2 gallon bucket of Gatorade on him. It came down his dark brown hair like a river rapid.
Once they all went home they watched the the news and saw that we cheated. Joe had no idea how that happened. On the news it said that George did it. He put sticky glue on all of the wide receivers’ gloves so they catch everything. He told everyone that he was the victim. He thought of this idea because he is the kicker, and kickers don’t use their hands.
So now they had to play in a rematch game tomorrow at 8 am. So they went to bed at 7 and woke up at 5. The team immediately went to the field. They talked to coach about cheating and how it’s not right. Now they went out there and played correctly.
Once the first quarter started Andrew said hike and Joe charged deep for a bomb. It's up, it's up...it's caught! Joe caught it on his helmet. The crowd went crazy. Joe did the whip and dabbed. Joe jogged off the field with celebration. After that crazy first half the team had the ball in the second. Andrew had a big rush for 30 yards for a touchdown. But on the play it looks like Joe got hurt while he was blocking some defenders in the red zone. His coach rushed to the field and checked if he was okay. Joe tapped on his back so he meant that his back is the thing that is hurting. So Joe there number one wide receiver is out of the game.
After a bunch of plays later it is the fourth quarter and they barely have a minute left. They’re winning 24 to 17 and they just needed a touchdown and a two point conversion to win it.They kept on running it until…….They broke a big one.The guy on the other team went flying down the field like a speed demon. And he rushed into the end zone for the touchdown. They celebrated and went for two. Once the other quarterback said hike he immediately threw the ball. The wide receiver made the catch for the 2 point conversion and the win.
So Joe’s whole team especially George learned a valuable lesson about cheating. And the Jaguars went home with a win and a trophy.
