The Meaning of D.A.R.E

At school, I participated in a program called D.A.R.E. That stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. They help kids to learn about drugs and alcohol and encourage them to resist. I gained a lot of knowledge from this program and it helped me to feel more educated about drugs and alcohol.

D.A.R.E taught me that alcohol, tobacco, and drugs are worse than most people think. It teaches me skills I need to know to live a drug/alcohol free life. There are choices and consequences. I know there will be peer pressure on me to make good or bad decisions. This program teaches me violence is never the right way to solve problems or issues.

D.A.R.E also taught me to just say NO to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, abuse, and violence. I don’t have to be afraid, I can just smile and say NO and change the subject. The choice and the decision is mine. It’s about making the right choices.

It takes one time to get addicted to something. Smoking and drugs are addicting and could lead to poor health. Once you start it is very hard to stop. Officer Mark really taught us the meaning of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and abuse. He was funny and fun about it but was still serious about the issue. I learned a lot from him.
