Traveling to Mars

“Come on!” I yelled back as I yanked my dad’s arm.

“Okay!” he said pulling his arm back. My sisters Stephanie and Samantha had to run to catch up with us. The wait took about five minutes. We were next in line and my hands were shaking, my stomach felt like it was on a endless loopy-loop flipping up and down again and again.

“I want to be the captain!” I quickly blurted out.

“It depends,” my dad said in a firm voice. I decided to trust him because he's done it before. It was our turn. I got on last. The ship was dark and had very few lights. I looked to see who to see what job I got. Believe it or not I was the captain. My dad was second in charge, Stephanie was the navigator and Samantha were engineers.
¨This place needs barf bags,¨ Stephanie commented. We all let out a chuckle.

¨Get ready for take off!¨ my dad yelled acting all professional.

¨Hey shouldn't I say that?¨ I asked all confused. As the take off button lit up and started to blink.

I yelled, ¨Get ready for take off!¨ I quickly pounded the button and started the countdown.
¨10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 take off!¨ I hollered and there was a super loud sound. My heart was beating so fast and loud I thought everyone could hear it. There was a louder sound and then we were in space. Everything was going smoothly until we all heard.

¨Engine failing! Engine failing!¨

Samantha read my mind and already started the backup engine. Samantha had to report back to base.

She said ¨We had some engine trouble but we were ok.¨ As soon as she hung up and asteroid was about to hit us. I grabbed the steering wheel turned off auto pilot. I was so happy that my long brown hair was in a ponytail because it would be in my face and I wouldn't be able to see. I made a sharp left and everything was ok. My dad reported back to base and told them everything that happened. I didn´t turn autopilot on again just in case. I kept steering then another asteroid was coming and it was 9 times as big as the other one. It must have been 50 feet wide and 20 feet tall. I quickly dove 30 feet and we made it.

¨It should be smooth sailing from here.¨ I said with a scared voice. We got back on track and were ok for now. Suddenly I saw something in the distance. I keep staring at trying to identify it. Then it hit me. It was Mars! That was destination this whole time. (Which I totally forgot about.) I was so excited. My lifelong dream is coming true. When found a good spot on Mars. We all had to help land. We all got out.

We all let out a ¨Wow!”or ¨Cool!¨ but I thought it was awesome, and it was.  I went through a hallway which went to the gift shop. There was mini space ships, shirts, photos, and snow globes. I saw my photo and I was smiling with fear. You couldn’t see on my picture that I was scared but I was.  But my sisters on the other hand look terrified. I was 6 but braver than my older sisters. My dad was smiling and not scared at all. But he went on the ride before. I was wonder how he looked when he went on the ride for the first time.

¨I really, really want to go again!¨ I said as I declared that this would be a day I will never ever forget.
