I bet you didn’t that know that 4,435 American battle deaths occurred in the Revolutionary War. In the Revolutionary War, there were three sides: Neutralists, Tories, and Rebels. In this book you will learn about each of their roles, purposes of taking their side, two important people, other names for their side, the population of each side in the war, and my opinion on their side.

Tories    Member of 1st The Royal ...

What was the Tories’ role in the war?

The role the tories played was fighting against the rebels for an add-on to England, that add-on being the 13 colonies. They were loyal to the King of England. They would kill, pop heads off, or gruesomely destroy enemies in any way needed.

Why did they take this side?

They took this side because they were loyal to the King of England, and they probably wanted another part of England to run. Also, probably because they thought they were joining the winning side. This is probably because they were much more organized than the Rebels. Little did they know they would LOSE! Maybe, also because they wanted to settle the price of tea.

Who were two important people from the Tories?

Two important people from the Tory group were John Malcolm, being a sea captain, army officer, and British custom official, and having this quote: ‘’This legal challenge is incredibly unusual--I have never heard of this happening before.’’ Another was John Butler, being the commanding colonel of Butler’s Rangers and having this quote: ‘’We were playing as well as we could with what we had, we got pretty banged up.’’ They helped the Tories very significantly.

What were some other names the Tories were called?
Some other names were Loyalists, Royalists, and King’s Friends.

What was the population of Tories in the war?

The population was 15-20% of people in the war probably because some of  the Tories had to come all the way from England. And if some them had to come all the way from England, they wouldn't be able to match the people who actually lived there because all they had to do was get their gun out and fight.

What is my opinion?
I thought at first that the Tories would have been the side to cheer for because… well… just because. But now I realize that I would definitely have cheered for the Rebels.

                Rebels  Commander-in-Chief[edit]

What role did the Rebels have in the war?

The role the Rebels played was fighting for being able to set their own taxes and settle the price of tea instead of it being set by people in a place across the Atlantic Ocean. These men as well as the Tories would do anything to kill, gruesome or not. They would chop off heads, legs, arms, brain, whatever it was, it had to kill.

Why did they take this side?
The reason they took this side is because they wanted a free country and a free life. Also, because they wanted to settle things themselves because it was their own country. Another reason is because they were brave and strongly believed that the 13 colonies should belong to them. They were brave because they went into the war even though they weren’t as organized.

Who were two important Rebels?
Two important Rebels were Alexander Hamilton, who was the first secretary of the treasury of the United States, founding father, and so many more things I can’t even name. He had this quote: “Real liberty is not found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate government.” Aaron Burr, who was a vice president, politician, lawyer, an army officer who made this quote: “The rule of my life is to make business a pleasure and pleasure my business.”

What were some other names the Rebels called themselves?
Some other names for the Rebels were Patriots, Sons of Liberty, Whigs, and Colonials.

What was the population of Rebels in the war?
The population of the Rebels was 40-45%. This is probably because the Rebels actually live where the war took place. All they had to do was get their gun out and fight.

What is my opinion?
As I said before, at first I thought that the Rebels were not the side to have been cheering for, but I realized later that it was the side I would have been on after all.

       Neutralists   Rastafari movement[edit]

What role did the Neutralists play in the war?
The role the Neutralists played was worrying about the war and trying to get people to stop it.Some just sat around worrying about the war. They refused to take sides. They came from America or England.

Why did they take this side?
The reason they took this was because they didn’t believe in war (just like my mom). Or they were afraid to take part in it.

What was the population of Neutralists in the war?
The population of neutralists in the war area was 35-45% of people. This was because almost half of the people did not want to be involved in the war.

What is my opinion?
I think that this would have been the best choice for world peace and stuff  (so says my mom). But also because it is probably the most safe side (you're welcome mom). I would still go for a Rebel though.

Overall, the Rebels were fighting for the better cause, but the Neutralists would be the best option for safety.

Conclusion

If you were in the Revolutionary War, what would you pick:Tory, Rebel, or Neutralist? I think, as I might have said a lot, that I would be on the Rebel side. I wonder whether the Rebels were surprised or not when they won. At the end of the day, the Rebels and Tories wanted to decide what the 13 colonies would be, a free place for all, or a subject of England.
