The Boston Tea Party
INTRODUCTION
Did you know that over seven thousand people witnessed the Boston Tea Party?Or that the tea ships that the colonists broke into were heavily guarded by armored war ships? Well if you didn’t, you should read this book where you will find many of interesting facts like that one. You will learn what happened before, during, and after the Boston Tea Party.
WHY IT HAPPENED
There are two reasons that the Boston Tea Party happened. The more obvious reason is because of the Tea Act. The Tea Act was when the king ordered that the colonists could only buy tea from British East India Company Tea.The colonists got mad at this because they didn’t want to be told where they could and couldn’t buy items such as tea from. The tea was also cheaper but the colonists thought that their saying in law was better than paying less money.
The other reason the Boston Tea Party happened was the Boston Massacre which happened three years before the Boston Tea Party in 1770.The Boston Massacre was when some colonists were throwing snow balls and ice at Lobsterbacks then one Lobsterback thought he heard someone say fire and started shooting.Soon all the Lobsterbacks were shooting at the colonists which then made a massacre, but not just any massacre the Boston Massacre. This doesn't make much sense to me though because it took 3 years for the colonists to react to this. This makes me think that the Boston Tea Party took a lot of Planning.
The tea party
On the night of December 16, 1773 when the tea ships docked in Boston Harbor heavily guarded by heavily armored war ships, The colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped over 90,000 lbs of tea ,which was in 340 chests, Into the Boston Harbor. This event is known as the Boston Tea Party. Over 7,000 people witnessed this event or ,as some would call it, a tragedy. The Boston Tea Party was planned by the Sons Of Liberty a group of nine men and shopkeepers that thought ,along with the patriots,” no taxation without representation” which means “we won't pay taxes without being able to help make decisions for the colonies and England”.

The aftermath
After the Boston Tea Party,Most participants fled to avoid arrest and one man named George Hewes, one of the last survivors of the revolution, remembered this quote ¨we then retired to our several places of residence, without having any conversation with each other,or taking any measures to discover who were our associates.” (Quote from a revolutionary experience.) What do you think this quote means and why do you think George Hewes said this?
