“How could children, however rebellious ,succeed against a firm father? How could a few colonies hold out against a powerful empire?”King George III said. Well, King George III would find out later how wrong he was.

Reasons Why the Revolutionary War Began
Before the Americans knew  that the Revolutionary War was going to happen, they had just been pilgrims coming to New England thinking that it seemed pretty empty. They hoped so because they had come there seeking freedom. They didn’t want anyone to be bossing them around like the British government later did. Later in  the year, winter was arriving and the pilgrims did not have enough time to plant their crops. On top of that, there was really cold weather and many diseases going around. Because of this, many of the Pilgrims died. Researchers noted that, it must have been a very hard time for them. Then, the indians came and traded new technology and knowledge between each other. They got a long very nicely ,in the beginning. If the indians had no come and helped them they would  have been completely wiped out. The Revolutionary war was started by King George III because,he kept taxing the colonists and making unfair decisions. Such as causing the Stamp Act,the Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre. In the Stamp Act, colonists were taxed on glass, paper, and all things printed. Colonists were starting to get mad. The Boston tea party was when colonists were getting taxed on tea. This they were officially mad about, so when a new shipment of tea was coming on a boat, two men dressed up as Native Americans and snuck on the boat. From there, they dumped all of the tea off the boat into the Hudson River. That was 500,000lbs of tea. That’s a lot of tea!    Also, England was bossing the colonists around and telling them where they could or could not settle. The colonists felt as though the older you get the more freedom you should have to make your own choices. The king would not make this thought even possible. The colonists wanted freedom!

How to survive the Revolutionary War

  1. Get a gun
  2. Learn how to shoot on target
  3. Join a group that has a big population(you must be a male between 18 and 24 years old)
  4. Always be aware of your surroundings
  5. Work as a team
  6. Be determined to survive
  7. Be determined to win

During the Revolutionary  War

There were three sides of the war. There were rebels, loyalists, and neutralists. The rebels were the people who were fighting against the king. The loyalists were the people who fought for the king. The neutralists were the people who either  did not like war, could not decide which side they were on, or were the people who thought both sides were wrong. The majority of, neutralists probably thought that both side were wrong. If I were to pick a side I would be a neutralist. The rebels had to swear to a committee that they would no longer obey the king. Also, they had to bring in a few friends to join the committee in order for them to believe that you were really on their side. However, if you were a loyalist, you would have to celebrate all of England’s holidays and sing a song called “God Save The King” and many others.  To tell whether someone was a loyalist you would have to ask them what was to eat. If the person was a loyalist they would reply with the word tea in their answer. There was a army called the militia. These are citizens that were ready to fight in case of an emergency such as, to fight off Indian parties and bandits if they were to come. Most of the men in the militia were ages 16-65 years old, too. To me, that seems like a lot of men
... young George in eighteenth ...The revolutionary war started on April 19,1775. Lots of people participated in the Revolutionary war. Around 150,000 men fought in the Continental Army over the course of the war. The most amount of soldiers in a army at once was 17,000 soldiers. Isn’t that crazy? Although there were many soldiers fighting in the war, they didn’t get paid a lot of money. I think this was do to the time period they lived in. Privates got paid $6 a month, sergeants got paid $8 a month, and captains got paid $20 a month. In the end, on September 3,1783 the revolutionary war ended. The Rebels won and got the freedom they were seeking.

After the Revolutionary War
After the rebels had won the revolutionary war, in 1776 in Great Britain the Declaration of Independence was signed stating  that the colonists were free of the British government. After the war, life changed a lot for the loyalists. They were in giant dept ,and people were asking for money to replace what had been destroyed in the war. Since they didn’t have enough money to pay all these people, the loyalists moved to other places. Such as, England,Canada, the West Indies, or British-held East Florida. A researcher noticed that during the Revolutionary War was a very hard and emotional time for everyone. Without knowing what side was going to win, what side would you choose?
