Did you know, in the Revolutionary War, the British side was favored to win by a lot? But, they lost the war.There were three sides in the revolutionary war, one of which were the Patriots. You will also learn about the Loyalist, whose nickname was the Lobsterbacks. And a side who could not pick a side, the Neutralists
Patriots
Did you know, that the Patriots were not favored to win even though they won. The Patriots was the team that wanted freedom. They lost most of the early battles, but had a lot of advantages ,like they had a reason for fighting. They were a small team, everybody thought they were going to lose, but they had hope, so they won the Revolutionary War. There name By The Loyalist were the Rebels.During the American Revolutionary War, Patriots were those who wanted to separate the 13 colonies from Great Britain.During the Revolution, Loyalists were often the victims of abuse, such as tar and feathering. This violence led many British sympathizers to join the Loyalist side and fight against the Patriots.
Loyalist
The Loyalist wanted to be ruled by the king. They had a lot of advantages like their army was bigger. The army was called the Professional Army, it was a big army. There confidence was so high that's why they won the early battles, but they lost the most important battle. The name from the Patriots are the Lobsterbacks because they who had a red coat on there backs. It was a swear word for the British. During and after the war, over 80,000 loyalists left the colonies entirely, even though the american government wanted them to stay.
Neutralist
The Neutralist was a side who thought both sides ,the Patriots and Lobsterbacks, were wrong. They thought the Patriots were wrong, because they cannot overrule the king of England because he founded America. The Neutralist thought the Lobsterbacks were wrong because they can't put taxes on stuff when there all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. Neutralists often maintained their neutrality because they lived too far away to fight. Neutralists kept themselves from the conflict for a number of reasons, indecision, fear, or simply distance from the center of the war.
