Personal Narrative
I was so not looking forward to go see some redwoods.I mean they probably look just like regular trees anyway. I kept asking my family if I could stay home.She just kept answering “no it’s going to be fun.” So then when we got into the car we all sighed because neither me, Ian, or Samantha, wanted to go.
So then we were off, it was a two-and-a-half hour drive to the park. So when we stopped for gas we got some candy to eat. Then when we left the gas station we got lost three times, so we had to ask some guys that were working on the road. They might of told us to go the right way. None of us know because my mom thought that those people were wrong, so she made us turn around.Then we asked Siri on the G.P.S , she just broke down halfway through the ride. So then we just started guessing where to go and sooner or later we got to the top of a gigantic hill. Then at the top of the hill there was the most beautiful view. Well we were admiring the view we never realized that the road was getting smaller and the road was on a cliff. Then we saw that the cliff has about a 200 foot drop. Then my mom and and us all started screaming because our dad kept driving really close to the curve on purpose to make us scream. My dad thought it was funny but to the rest of us we thought it was scary and dangerous. So then at the end of that road we were confused because there was two ways, and we didn’t know which way to take. Luckily we took the right way first so we didn’t need to back up and drive around and go through all that trouble.
So then when we got inside the park, there was absolutely no parking once so ever. So me and my sister, and my mom hopped out at the front gate. Well my dad and brother went to go find a parking space. Then we had to walk up to a desk, and there was a lady at the desk, that gave us a brochure. On the brochure there was a list of all the trails that lead through the woods.Then we had to decide what trail we were going on, and tell her that trail. Then after that my mom waited for my dad and brother. Well me and my sister were I this room with all these screens with all different information about the animals in the park. Also about each and everyone of the trees in the park. Lastly it was talking about the people that used to live in this forest. Then our mom came in the room and said that my dad and my brother, were back from finding a parking space. So then we went to go find the trail that we wanted to go on. Then when we found the trail we started walking on it, we were amazed at how big the trees were. Then after we walked for about two minutes we saw a big tree that was on the ground. So we all climbed onto the tree, we had to get off the tree because my mom and dad wanted to explore more of the trail. So when we were walking we heard this noise in woods, and there I saw a fox chasing something else in the woods. Then we also saw a tree with a hole in it. The reason for this is because a few years ago there was a huge fire in the park and most of the trees got burned down or got shorter during the fire. So when I saw the tree I immediately ran right under it. The only bad thing about the tree was that it turned black from the fire. So then my mom had to take like a billion pictures because she thought it would be a cute card. Then after all those pictures we kept walking and I saw a sign that said that this tree is the daddy tree. It also said on the sign that that tree was also damaged in the fire. Lastly it said that this tree is the tallest tree in the forest, and that it used to be 320 feet tall, but after the fire now it’s only 200 feet tall. Then after that we saw I sign that said this tree was the mommy tree. It is 180 feet tall and it did not get damaged in the fire. Then at the end of the trail I saw a time capsule in the woods and on it there was a birds nest but there were no birds in the nest. Also on it, it said that it was put in the ground at 2010 and will be taken out of the ground in 2030. After that we had to go get our lunches from the car. When we got the lunches we walked to a place where there a bunch of bench’s there. So we sat at one of them because most of them were taken. When me and my brother were done eating we played a game that we called king of the jungle. What we did in the game was there was a little stump next to the benches and whoever was on top of the stump was the king. We only got to play for five minutes because my mom thought we were embarrassing us in front of all the other people. Then when everybody was done with their lunch my dad went to go put the leftovers in the car well we went to go look for a souvenir. When our dad met us up at the gift shop he gave all of us some money so we can buy the souvenir that we want. We all wanted to get T-shirts, so I got black one,my brother got a red one and so did my dad. Then my sister got a lit blue, my did want to get a shirt so she just got a bracelet. The best part was that the gift shop was connected to a snack place so me and my brother got Slushies and my sister got a little cup of cookie dough ice cream. Well we were eating our goods our mom stayed with us, well our dad went to go get the car. Our brother did not hear him say that so he went to go look for the car. My dad parked the car at the front gate, my mom told him to wait because we had to go find my brother. When we found him he was so confused because he did not know where the car was. So then we told him that were leaving, so we jumped right into the car and we were heading home. After a few minutes of driving we were on that super small road again with that 200 foot drop. So we were going around this big turn on that road so my dad for some reason thought it would be funny to drive close to the edge of the road. When he did that we all screamed and we did not know that our windows were open, so when we screamed there was a guy on the side of the road. And he heard us scream so when we drove buy him he had the weirdest face, like he thought we were weird. Then after that we pretty much were laughing the whole way home.
