Lake Compounce
It was a cool, windy, soft-skyed morning, which was nice in the middle of July. I could not wait to get to spend lots of fun time with my friends. I felt like my head would explode with happiness! It was the last day of the church’s Carnival Week, and the whole camp was looking forward to getting to the spotlight of Carnival week, Lake Compounce!
Soon, everyone boarded the bright yellow bus. Everyone was so excited to get there. “Cozzette! Olivia! Audrey!” I waved for my friends and sister to come and play games with me, I always remember one of our favorite road trip traditions, the fun and games tradition. It was when every time we were on road trips, we all played hand games, like zoo, handshake, lollipop, pika, and things like tic-tac-toe. All the counselors, kids, and friends joined in! A few hours later we arrived at Lake compounce, the start of carnival week, fun with friends.
Once the long bus ride was over, all the best friends split up into groups, Cozzette, one of my best friends, was with me. As we opened the map, we saw a nice variety of ride choices. “Let’s ride this one first!” cozzette and lots of other girls exclaimed.
“Why?” I asked,
“Because, silly! It spins you to make us cooler!”
Then I noticed how hot it had gotten since we left church. “GOSH!” I yelled in realization, “you’re right! It’s burning!”, Cozzette smiled nicely,
“I know!” she laughed. “The weather today is super crazed! Like it wants to kill us!” she joked.
On the way to Zoomerang, we stopped by a drink place where everybody laughed and got free root-beer, sprite, juice, mist, and, of course, water. “No lay-offs now” Jessica laughed with a cup of root-beer in her hand, “We will go straight to zoomerang!” We all agreed.
“I am so nervous” Cozzette said abruptly
“Me too,” I replied, “Although, for me, once it's over, I feel like doing it again. Hey,” I suddenly exclaimed, This looks just like Flashback!”
“What’s that?” everyone asked
“Oh, it’s a roller coaster like this, but red and orange, not this, all blue and purple,” I clearly stated since I saw the roller coaster.
“If you know so much about it,” Jessica started, “ then where is it located? And I mean it as nicely as possible” Jessica added
“It’s at six flags” I said.
We all hugged each other, because it seemed like a nice place to hug. It was nice, pretty, and it had lots of flowers. So our group laughed and talked some more all the way there, as a very happy group.
Finally, the long walk was over, and we arrived at (heavenly chorus singing Ahhhhhhhhhhh) Zoomerang, it looked like flashback, yes, but it was 5 times bigger!
Once we were on the marvelous roller coaster, we all chatted and Cozzette hugged me tightly, then, all of us decided to make a tradition about Zoomerang, the tradition was that we would always ride it first, above any ride, and we all joyfully agreed. After the ride Cozzette thanked me for always being there for me, so I replied
“That’s what friends are for,”
And in that one moment, everyone smiled, happy that their friends were there for them.
Soon we were at the water park where we could meet up with younger or older friends or relatives, so, naturally, Cozette, Livvy, Audrey and I all changed into our bathing suits and rushed to the pool,
“Goodness, the ground is burning!” We all agreed and ran to the pool skipping as high as we could to avoid the scorching hot ground.
Finally, after what seemed like burning hot minutes we ran into the water, which, gratefully, was super cool against out sunburned feet.
“Come on!” Audrey exclaimed happily, “The waves are on!”
And Audrey was right, the artificial waves caused purposely by sudden outbursts every 15 minutes, made for people to jump on, where on,
“Jump Time!” We all yelled with glee.
Then in that moment, jumping waves, I remembered the time I got to go on a summer vacation with my family to Bermuda, and I went wave-jumping with my mommy, daddy, and sister, Audrey, those where the good old days, when my cute, but helpless baby brother, Grant didn’t exist.
And I remembered how my family was always so amazing to me and cherished this moment at Lake Compounce.
Later that day we boarded the bright yellow bus, and all I could think about was how much I loved spending quality time with friends and family. So, naturally, we played hand games for the long, fun, beautiful, and colorful journey home with my best friends. I knew how much I loved my life, with all my great surprises. I loved my family, friends, and acquaintances.
