D.A.R.E.
Introduction
Hi I am Izik. I am a student from D.A.R.E. I have learned many, many important things this year in D.A.R.E. Those important things I learned I am sure will help prevent me from making bad decisions, and staying away from drugs and alcohol. And if you are asking what D.A.R.E is, it is only some of the most important things you need to learn. One surprising fact D.A.R.E has taught me is there are 200 known chemicals in cigarette. Can you believe that!?
Learned
In my classes with officer Mark I learned a bunch of strategies to help me learn how to make good decisions, and stay away from drugs and alcohol. For example one strategy I can use to help stay away from someone offering me a cigarette, is I can use the say no and walk away strategy. This strategy is where you plainly look confident and say no and walk away. Another thing I learned to do to make good decisions, was the D.A.R.E decision making model. We had learned that the words D.A.R.E could mean Define, Assess, Respond, and Evaluate.
First if we had a tough decision we describe the problem we had in our hands. To Asses we would see how many choices we had to face our problem. To Respond we were to make our choice by using the facts and information you have found about the problem. Also to Evaluate that would mean to review your decision, and to see if you had made the right choice or not. So saying these are some things that I, a student from D.A.R.E, have learned in my classes.
What I had liked about D.A.R.E is that it is like no other program I have experienced before. I like the officer and his funny jokes that he makes up during our classes. I also like how we played our D.A.R.E world series baseball. I like this game because it teaches me things on how to not smoke and drink and how to make good decisions in one fun, cool game. What I also liked about my D.A.R.E classes with the best officer ever, was the interesting facts we had learned in D.A.R.E. For example, there are over 400,000 hand smokers who die each year. I thought these facts are cool and interesting and they also had a advantage of teaching me a lot during D.A.R.E.
In my D.A.R.E classes I I learned many, many important things. These important things will help me go through with life and live a strong, happy, healthy life. So I here today I pledge to try to do my best to stay away from alcohol, drugs, and making bad decisions such as going to a party with alcohol.
