Personal Narrative
My friend, Gregory, and I were ready to start the snowboarding race on Mount Snow! ¨Ready, set, GO!¨ we both said. We went opposite ways.
I went on the snowboarding park, and he went on the regular path. I was dodging all the obstacles as the hail scratched against my face and the wind was blowing through my hair. First I headed toward the ramp! I thought it would be fun plus it would speed me up. Then it was time to do the ramp I thought, but I was not that sure I could do it. I just sprung in the air! It felt like I was flying, but only for a few seconds. Then I started going downward. My confidence shrank smaller every second. Bam! My snowboard smashed against the smooth surface of the snow. But I was still up. I can't believe I made it and I was still up and sliding to the next trick, I thought in my head.
The jump needed a lot of speed, but not too much or it could get out of control. But that was what was happening! Going too fast was the last thing I needed. If I turned, I would flip, lose the race, and get hurt. If I kept going I still would have a chance to win, but get hurt. So I continued going fast! I was trapped, and I was heading straight towards the jump! Aaaaah! I screamed in my head as the jump made a strange sound because it was curved up! I went up three feet and then Smash! I fell right on my butt. It felt like it was burnt and sore. Just then about two kids giggled and told me to slow down. I clenched my fist in the snow as anger spread through my veins! I was furious at them. Then they slid down the hill. That reminded me to get back to the race! How could I get so of track, I need to get back to the race! I thought to myself. I calmed down and jump back on my snowboard.
I slid down a little and there it was the hill. If I don't go fast enough i will not make it to the top! I was doomed I thought unit I started going down. I have to win I just had to. I was so close to k the end of the hill but i was also slowing down. Just in time I made it! But almost losing my balance. Then I scooted towards the edge of the hill and blasted of!
The hill was as bumpy as the waves from vacation. Then I thought back to that time in surfboarding school… When my foot got tangled in the strap and the strong waves. Just then I saw the bumps! I swiftly turned into one of the bumps! It was very quick before my body slammed against the sufis. I jumped up and got back to the race. “That was close” I said. I was now going to fast. This is bad I thought. Until I had a idea. I started skimming through the snow left to right into a pattern. My neck was shivering I tried to burrow into my scarf. But it didn't work.
I saw the finish and started going fast! I felt excitement as my snowboard stopped! “ I won!” I said with joy. Just then I saw him! I was so surprised and disappointment . He was taking of his snowboard. “At least I did my first trick.”
