The Place I Wanted To Go
It was the biggest test coming up! We call it the great Hawaii test. Well it wasn’t that great. But the test would start next week. It might not look hard but it was hard. Well at least that’s what my sister told me.
Okay well my name is Lilly. I love a lot of things. I am really smart, well I don’t want to brag. I have two sisters and I have three brothers. I am almost ten years old.’’
“I have to study study study! I am so scared for me if I get a bad grade or if something else happens,” I thought to myself. All of my papers were flying everywhere all around my room. “I will never get anything finished with all this happening,” I said to myself in a angry way. “Well at least I still have a week to study or I would be definitely doomed. I just am going to take a break till next week. But I will still study. Any way I do still have some other homework I have to do today,” I said in a normal voice. ”Well I am just going to do this now. I love this type of math, yaaaay.”
“Keep it down your brother is trying to read and he doesn't like loud noise while he is doing his reading,” my mom said.
“Okay Mom,” I said, “Wish he wasn't reading right now.”
One week later ……… It all started on very normal day. Well, it wasn’t that normal since it was the day before the big Hawaii test.
“Wow!”, I said, “This is kind of hard of hard for a girl like me.” When I was studying in my class, I took a moment. I was the only student with sweat on my face. I don't know why I was sweating because it wasn't even the real test. I looked around, everyone was studying or writing notes and some kids were even thinking. Everyone was doing something while I was looking at everyone. It was like someone was laughing in my face while I was just doing stuff. Then I got right back to work. I studied that Hawaii was surrounded by water. With my eyes halfway closed, I said wow really loud again. Then they opened really wide.
Then the teacher looked at me.”Oops,” I said in a quiet voice.
”Quiet!” yelled the unhappy teacher. “Back to work,” she said in a mad voice.
Then I said in my head going back to my joyful voice, “I would love to go to Hawaii. It is like a beautiful paradise.” Then the teacher looked at me like she heard me in my head. ”I have no idea how but maybe she didn't hear,” I said in my head.
“There are sharks,” I said, my mouth opened wider than ever. “That is so cool, I really want to go there now. No matter what I hope I get to go there,” I said in my mind. ”Sharky shark shark I would probably see one. I have only seen sharks on nature shows and stuff like that,” I was saying. “I can't wait till vacation. Yippee.”
When I got home, my sister said “Would you like to study with me” and I said no.
It was not the right thing to do but what can I say? I really didn't want to do it. Even though I love to to study I really didn't want to. I was all worried about it last night. But I did pretty good on the pre-Test so it wasn't that big of a deal. There are other things in life.
Wait would about if I get a bad grade. Like D-Or a F. Oh no. I might do horrible on it. This can ruin my whole life. I am doomed. Well,then maybe it’s not that hard. Oh I don’t know. I am super scared now. I am now going to get a bad grade.
20 minutes later. “Sara!” I yelled.
”What?” Sara said.
”Can you help me now please?” I yelled again.
”No”, Sara said.
”Why not, you are my sister and you just said that you would help me 21 minutes ago. Times going bye! Now it has been 22 minutes since you said that”! I said.
”You had the chance and now I have to go over my friend’s house!” Sara said madly.
”Okay”, I said dropping down slowly. ”Hmm.Well I will have to wait till tomorrow”, I said sitting on the ground.
I got into my classroom, scared. “Uaah the test is going to begin. Uaah I am so scared”! I said scaredly. My head was dripping with sweat. It was just like the pretest. Right away the teacher was passing out paper. “Why isn't this test in the afternoon?” I mumbled.
Lexy said, “They changed the schedule”. She is one of my BFFs. I met her in kindergarten.She is super nice.Also very helpful.
I wrote my name on the paper. Then I heard the teacher say in a soft voice, “May the test begin”.
I wished to myself I studied with my sister. But I didn’t. As I was doing my test, some of the kids in my class were looking at other kid’s papers. So the teacher with a not happy look on her face put out dividers. Then I had to get going. I felt the paper, it was very smooth. It was like a smooth table with wrinkles on it. ”I have to do my test now,” I said in my mind like always. I felt a shiver go down my throat.
I looked at the teacher like I was confused. Then, as she got up out of her chair, I gave her the other look. The look that tells her to not to come over. But she still got up and started to walk around the room. She looked at everyone’s test paper. She even looked at mine. When she does that I get even more nervous.
With a loud voice she said, ”Has everyone gotten started?” Then that's when I got straight to work because she looked at me when she said that….
I got to the first question.
- Is Hawaii its own state. Yes No
I circled yes. I was sure it was yes. But if it wasn’t I would go back and fix it before the test was over.
Even though I love tests I felt like I was in a daze. I looked up at the clock. I heard, “Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock”! After that I got right back to work.
Finally I was on the last question.
10. How many sharks are seen in Hawaii a day?
I finished that up and by then the test was over. I went to the teacher and handed it in. She looked at it fast and said,
“Did you check it over?” I said yes because I did.
After that dreadful test it was over and it all paid off.
That is when I saw my grade. My eyes filled with joy. I saw that number, 100%. I said, “I couldn’t even believe my eyes”. Then I said, “I have to go to Hawaii !The place is beautiful.”
After that day we had a whole week off. Then I thought for a moment,“Wait this can be my chance!”I said that because then I could go to Hawaii.
I yelled to my Mom and Dad because I was at home.
”What honey? Yes sweetpea,” said my mom and dad.
”Well can we go to Hawaii please?” I said.
”Are you kidding”, said my mom.
“Do you know how much that cost?” said my dad. “I don’t know”, I said. “Well the plane ride is about $500 to 1000. A hotel cost..ummm...Well who knows how much that costs”!
“There is a lot more too,”my mom said.
With a sad look on my face I knew it was all over. I walked up the stairs up in my house, with a single tear coming from my eye.
My older brother said, “Sorry about that.”
”You heard from downstairs”, I said with the single tear making its way on to the ground.
Yes”, He said.
Then I jump in my bed. Whipping the single tear off as it made its way off my cheek. “Then I remember that we can sell something. Like food. I will start first thing tomorrow”,I said with a smile on my face.
Then I jumped out of my bed and went to play with my little brother Lewis. I did that because he has been wanting to play with me for a week. So I did. I also have been way too busy. That is another reason why I am going to play with him. After playing with him I went to bed.
I woke up with my heart pumping fast. I said to myself, “This is the day”.This is the day to sell the food.
My mom already told everyone who I want to come. The people who can come and can’t. We are going to sell food...like hamburgers and hotdogs. My five best friends were coming.
We brought our grill. Then we were at the beach. I met all my friends at the beach. I could feel the sand in my toes. I could hear the waves crashing.
Only a few people came. But they left by the time the sun was setting. I said, “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea”. When I said that everyone started coming, it was a miracle that happened.The beach was filled with people. They all came up to our stand and bought stuff. They had dinner at the table on the beach. But the food was our food that we made. Good thing I listened to my Maddie to bring extra. She is my BFF too.We have a lot in common. We both love animals and stuff like that.
It got very late but there were still people coming and going. The moon rose. That's when people were getting desserts. One kid walked up to our stand and said, “Can I get an ice cream?” Maddie’s mother said she will get the ice cream because somehow she brought ice cream.”There you go, one ice cream,” Maddie's mother said.
My friends and I went to bed because it was 12. We slept in the tent.
The next morning my Mom said with a happy look on her face, “We made it”! Then ……… My friends and I squealed with joy because we are going to go to Hawaii. Also that we are on our way to go.
Then when we got home and we packed our bags and we put it all in my big car. I just couldn't believe that we were really going to Hawaii, it was really happening. A single tear went down my eye but this tear wasn’t a sad one, it was a happy one. That's when I knew this was going to be the best journey I would ever have in my whole life.
Now we our way to the best place ever and that place is..............Hawaii !
