D.A.R.E. Essay
In D.A.R.E. we learned that DARE stands for drug abuse resistance education. Also I learned that if you say no to someone while looking them in the eye they take you seriously. You have to be 18 to smoke and cigarettes have nicotine in it that make you addicted also cigarettes cause lung cancer. I learned if someone asks you to smoke you could change the subject and also 400,000 people die from smoking each year. In the USA is is illegal to sell cigarettes to someone under 18. Also there are more than 200 known chemicals cigarettes. Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the US. There are 50,000 secondhand deaths from smoking. Nicotine in cigarettes and chewing tobacco reduce the amount of blood going to the brain. Also smoking causes heart disease.Chewing tobacco can cause mouth cancer,tooth loss and other health problems. Smoking can cause yellow teeth bad breath drys your skin and causes wrinkles. Mixing alcohol with medicine is dangerous. Teen bodies are still growing so alcohol's affects their bodies more severely. Alcohol goes directly into the bloodstream and can damage every organ in your body. Too much alcohol can slowdown body and lead to a coma or a death.There are also 75,000 alcohol related deaths each year and you need to be 21 to drink. Most teens don't drink. Alcohol slows down your body and brain. Also if you know there is going to be alcohol at a party a easy way to avoid it is to not go to the party. Some resistance strategies are avoiding the situation,strength in numbers, walk away, saying no while giving a reason, and changing the subject. Also I learned before you do something you should think of the positive and negative actions of doing it.
