Barney Pond is more like a small river. To fish you need a state fishing license. A license costs $35 for a non-resident and $18 for a resident. If you fish for trout, you need a trout stamp which costs $5.50. If you are a tourist, you can get a 3 day license for $16. Everyone needs a fishing license to fish in freshwater in Rhode Island, You can get a fishing license from March 1 to the last day of February in the next year.
